The Rev. Michael Burke
Michael is Rector of St. Mary's in Anchorage, Alaska, a vibrant and diverse multi- generational and mission-oriented church perched on the edge of the last frontier. He is a most engaging speaker with over ten years of experience and involvement with stewardship and congregational development conferences on many different levels, including participation on design teams. A stewardship consultant who is much in demand, Michael also brings into play his gifts as a youth educator and a pastor. He is the father of two children - Jesse, 13, and Cassidy, 8 - and assisted in the development of the Growing a Grateful, Generous Heart children's curriculum for stewardship education.
Polly Basore
Polly enjoyed a career as a highly successful journalist and newspaper editor prior to 2003, when she started AngelWorks, a partnership of philanthropy and non-profits aimed at easing human suffering. Her three children's books have raised over $150,000 for Wichita charities. Her fourth book, a memoir entitled What Heaven Left Behind, was named the Most Inspirational Book by the Kansas Professional Communicators in 2006. Basore's work in philanthropy earned her the Wichita Business Journal's recognition with a "40 Under 40" Award in 2006. Read more about her on her web site.
The Rev. Dr. Martin Marty, Ph.D.
Dr. Marty, one of today's most prominent interpreters of religion and culture, has authored more than fifty books on a comprehensive breadth of subjects. He is also a speaker; columnist for Christian Century since 1956; editor of the semimonthly newsletter Context since 1969; a Lutheran pastor; and was a professor of religious history for 35 years at the University of Chicago where he remains Professor Emeritus.
